ABOUT US
It's hard to believe, but there are dozens of children in our district that have food insecurity, which means: "the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food."
Food insecurity can lead to behavioral and social problems, trouble concentrating on schoolwork, and even weight problems. At Sunshine Backpacks, we believe that No Child Should Be Hungry, and have made it our mission to end food insecurity in our district.
We believe that no child should be hungry, and we send weekly bags of food home for MSAD 72 district children in need so that they are not hungry during the weekend and vacation weeks. We are a 501(c)(3) so all donations are tax-deductible. Please help us work together in our mission to ensure that NO CHILD IS HUNGRY!
We are a group of volunteers that work together to purchase, store, bag, and distribute bags of ready to eat, shelf-stable, food for the time between the end of school Friday and Monday morning.
